Day 19 – JettRiders
Posted on July 24, 2011
On July 24th we started off the day in Massillon, Ohio and got to sleep in late….7am, it’s our lucky day, and were fed sweet treats and hot chocolate by the church before setting off on our 8 mile journey to the Football Hall of Fame.
There, we met Amanda Rudd, her nine year old son Cade, and her supportive friends and family and explored the amazing Hall of Fame with them. There were football jersey’s, signed footballs, information and bios about famous football stars, a movie about the superbowl, a superbowl trophy replica, and many gigantic, sparkling superbowl rings. After having lunch in a nearby park, we split into our two groups and biked 22 miles to the Minerva town line where we were cheered on by Amanda, Cade, and their friends and family.
We all snacked on slushies and convinced Alex a sixteen year old family friend of the Rudd’s to ride the final four miles to our final destination. He did a great job and kept up with everyone well, and is thinking about joining next years Jettride. Once we reached the house we jumped in the pool and swam for an hour or so before having an awesome dinner prepared by the Rudd’s. As I write I can still hear our boys splashing and playing around with Cade and his friends in the pool. Tonight I think we’re doing a bonfire with smores, but we’ll see how long we make it, last night they basically fell asleep at the dinner table.
Love you all, we have a big day tomorrow, lot’s of hills and lot’s of miles, hopefully we’ll have the time and energy to blog. See you soon!!!
